This may sound weird, but my therapist told me to make a joke at your expense Jan (sort of).
I will spare the full update for the 2046 reunion. WhatsApp version - 4 great kids, still live in NYC with Section I Cathy, still pretty antisocial. Things going pretty good in life and career until Luigi Mangione murdered my friend/mentor/colleague at the investor day in December 2024 I was in charge of, including signing off on Brian’s hotel change and security detail.
The immediate aftermath was horrible - death threats, we had to have 24 hour security and had to take kids out of school and move them away for a bit. Eventually things calmed down and after a ton of therapy I finally started posting on LinkedIn and reaching out a little without fear that somebody would come after my family because my company did them wrong (in their view). Had to change my phone number which is why I disappeared from WhatsApp until I read the reunion emails.
Not meant to be a downer, things are actually improving - thus the German joke. A little worried about the trial, but am hopeful the world has moved on to other villains besides UnitedHealth. Cathy and I were actually discussing going to the 20th reunion but I backed out, still not quite ready for large gatherings. That and we heard they weren’t giving an award for sexiest cross-sectional couple, so why bother.
