Dear all,
As Anthropic and OpenAI race towards potential $1tn IPOs, they continue to promise that AI will benefit humanity. It is an exciting moment, but promises are no longer enough.
The next phase of AI should not be judged only by ARR, IPO valuations, or model performance. It should be judged by whether AI companies make public, measurable commitments to the societal outcomes that matter most.
In the attached LinkedIn post, I ask a simple question: *which AI lab will be the first to set a target date for curing major diseases, including cancer, improving the lives of people affected by genetic disorders, and reducing animal suffering at scale?*
This debate cannot be left to the AI labs alone. As business leaders, policymakers, AI leaders, influencers, technologists, investors, founders, scientists and global citizens, we all have a role to play in shaping what this technology is built to achieve.
The stakes could not be higher.
*Please add your voice on LinkedIn* and help influence the real world impact of AI. The choices made now will shape the health, wellbeing, and future of us all.
*As members of the Harvard community, your support matters now more than ever. If you are short on time, even a like on LinkedIn would help amplify the conversation*.
Thanks,
Chas
