AI in Kenya is moving from hype to deployment. That was my biggest takeaway from this follow-up Pure Digital Passion Podcast conversation with Simon Bransfield-Garth and Shikoli Makatiani of Akili AI. How do you put AI to work inside a Kenyan bank, microfinance institution, cooperative, customer service workflow, or regulated financial services process? We unpacked: ✅ Shadow AI — the AI already inside your organization ✅ Why the real value is not in the AI model but in what you build around it ✅ Why Shikoli starts with one question: “Show me the pain owner” ✅ How AI can reduce customer service friction, surface insights, and reduce cognitive load ✅ Why AI governance, risk registers, staff training, and human oversight are now board-level issues ✅ Why “good enough is good enough” for many practical African AI use cases Watch The Podcast: https://youtu.be/oZazhafRfGg Listen To The Podcast: https://open.spotify.com/episode/3fNMbLMS845PggbtGvlLw8?si=4db5ebe1eb5b4d64

Sophie Munyaka
Hello Kuzana Community, I hope you're all doing well.. I wanted to re-introduce myself and share a little about what I've been building over the past year. I'm Sophie Munyaka, Founder of **Astragard**—a creative protection and collaboration platform built for the age of AI. Our belief is simple: as technology transforms how we create, there are certain things that must remain human—authorship, intention, meaning, and creative integrity. Rather than building another freelance marketplace, we're creating infrastructure that helps creatives and brands collaborate while preserving ownership, attribution, and the human story behind creative work. Astragard combines a Creative Protection Framework, a curated Incubator for collaborations, creator licensing, and structured workflows designed to support both creators and brands. Over the past few months, we've made meaningful progress: • Successfully launched the first version of our platform at **astragard.live**. • Began onboarding our first Foundational Creatives. • Reached over 150 early users during our initial launch period. • Built creator and brand dashboards, collaboration workflows, and the foundations of our Creative Protection Framework. • Started developing thought leadership around creativity, AI, and the future of authorship through articles and educational content. As we move into the next phase, I'm looking for a **co-founder**—someone excited about building technology with purpose and helping shape the future of the creative economy. I'm particularly interested in someone with a strong product, engineering, or technical background who enjoys solving complex problems and building for the long term. For those of you who have gone through the process of finding a co-founder, I'd genuinely appreciate your advice. What qualities mattered most? Where did you find the right person? What would you do differently if you were starting again? I'm also always happy to connect with anyone interested in creative technology, AI governance, intellectual property, or building tools that empower creators across Africa. Thank you, and I look forward to learning from this incredible community.✨✨

*Wisdom Wednesday* Hi members, Tomorrow we'll look at a perspective that challenges the conventional founder journey: *Don't start a company. Learn to sell first.* The argument is that sales is one of the most important skills an entrepreneur can develop—not just for winning customers, but also for hiring, fundraising, building partnerships, and communicating a vision. The post below shares Kyle's experience and provides the context for tomorrow's discussion. https://www.linkedin.com/posts/kyleschutter_dont-start-a-company-learn-to-sell-first-activity-7479791384443473920-s41C?utm_source=share&utm_medium=member_android&rcm=ACoAAANC5FkBAj_BxCTS9CrTSL4YGwXg2pikBBE Not yet in the Wisdom Wednesday group?
